Frequently Asked Questions
Therapy can help with anxiety, depression, stress, trauma, relationship challenges, grief, life transitions, self-esteem, and more.
What ages do you work with?
We provide therapy for children as young as 3 years old, as well as adolescents and adults of all ages. Each session is tailored to the developmental stage and specific needs of the client.
Do you offer in-person or virtual sessions?
We offer both! Clients can choose between in-person sessions at our office in Waldwick, NJ or HIPAA-compliant virtual therapy sessions that can be accessed from anywhere in New Jersey. We’re happy to help you decide what feels most comfortable and effective. Please keep in mind we assess children's ability for virtual visits based mainly on age and attention span.
Do you accept insurance?
At this time, we are an out-of-network provider. However, we provide superbills (detailed receipts) that you can submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement. We’re happy to guide you through this process if you’re unsure how to get started.
How do I book a session?
Booking is simple — you can click the “Request Appointment” button at the top of this website, call us at (201) 338-0288, or email anna.baldassari@truenorthcounseling.services. We’ll follow up to confirm availability and next steps.
What should I expect at the first session?
The first session focuses on getting to know you or your child. We’ll discuss your goals for therapy, relevant background, and what’s currently going on. It’s a collaborative conversation in a nonjudgmental space.
What types of therapy do you use?
We draw from a range of evidence-based approaches, including Trauma-Focused Therapy (TFT), psychoanalysis, mindfulness, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and play/sand play therapy for children. Treatment is always customized to meet your unique needs.
Can I attend sessions with my child?
In many cases, yes. Especially for younger children, it can be helpful for a parent or caregiver to participate in part of the session. We’ll collaborate on what works best based on your child’s age and therapeutic goals.
How long are sessions?
Most sessions last 45–50 minutes, whether virtual or in-person. For younger children, shorter sessions may be used based on attention span and emotional readiness.
How do I pay for sessions?
Payment is collected at the time of service via credit or debit card. We use a secure and encrypted platform for billing. Superbills are available upon request for insurance reimbursement.
